SPAMfighter 5.0 Now Filtering Better than Ever
(PRWeb) February 14, 2007 -- SPAMfighter has just released version 5.0 giving SPAMfighter users the best protection possible. SPAMfighter 5.0 has many new improvements to improve the filtering capabilities, which are unique and available only to SPAMfighter users.
"This new version of SPAMfighter catches up with the latest forms of spam mails, making the filtering for SPAMfighter users even better." Martin Thorborg proudly states.
One type of spam mail, which has plagued e-mail users worldwide, has been the image spam. This particular spam mail continues to become more and more technically advanced, making it harder to filter.
SPAMfighter has created a filter to scan the image in order to determine if it is spam. The newest version of SPAMfighter has increased the speed of this scanning process by teaching the filter to recognize spam mails by looking at only small parts of the image. SPAMfighter can make multiple signatures for the same image. These signatures are only signatures of part of the image. This increases the efficiency of the SPAMfighter filter as it allows for more opportunities to calculate the known signature.
SPAMfighter has further created a method of filtering spam mails of various sizes. SPAMfighter filters can now scale e-mails down making the size irrelevant, and scan the e-mail for spam in this way. This makes it easier to detect spam mails by having less to sort through.
Another way of filtering image spam mails, which SPAMfighter has worked hard to improve, is the detection of text in spam mails. By being able to scan the images, text can be picked out and recognized as spam easier. This feature is still being worked on, and will become even more advanced very soon.
SPAMfighter uses a central database of spam reported by SPAMfighter users. Spam mails are being filtered through the database is by comparing the incoming e-mail to the spam mails in the database to determine whether an e-mail is spam. This having this database constantly updated by users reporting spam mails, SPAMfighter is able to filter the latest spam mails. In this sense, the community is constantly fighting against spam mails, and continuously blocking the latest forms of spam mails.
The SPAMfighter database is owned and maintained by SPAMfighter which employs technicians who monitor the reported spam mails, and work around the clock to keep up with the latest tricks of the spammers. By examining these reported spam mails the SPAMfighter 5.0 filter has been improved to better detect spam mails.
These new methods in spam filtering help to stay on top of the latest tricks which spammers are using. Both the speed and technology of the filter has been updated. This means SPAMfighter users are able to get their e-mail quickly and spam free.
SPAMfighter users receive the best filtering possible with the latest updates. SPAMfighter 5.0 is certain to give better filtering to SPAMfighter users by offering the latest technology in spam filtering.
SPAMfighter is Europe's leading spam filter developer. The Danish company is owned by the founders of Jubii.dk, Henrik Sørensen and Martin Thorborg, together with two programmers, Daniel Hjortholt and Martin Dyring. SPAMfighter employs 25 people and is based in Copenhagen. SPAMfighter is debt-free and is 100 per cent financed by income from the sale of the SPAMfighter client. Each day, SPAMfighter removes around 12 million spam messages from 15 million tested emails received by more than 2.7 million users in 212 countries/regions.
SPAMfighter draws its power from the fact that over 2.7 million users report spam as they receive it, with a single click. Once several users have reported the same spam message, it is automatically filtered for all other users. The result is that over 90 percent of all spam is filtered out before it reaches any given user. Get more information about SPAMfighter here: www.spamfighter.com

How Spammers Fool Rule-based and Signature-Based Spam Filters
Effectively stopping spam over the long-term requires much more than blocking individual IP addresses and creating rules based on keywords that spammers typically use. The increasing sophistication of spam tools coupled with the increasing number of spammers in the wild has created a hyper-evolution in the variety and volume of spam.

Ignoring These Tips Could Result in an Inbox Full of Spam
Although there still seem to be some differences among the US Government, the lawmakers, the anti-spam organizations and the spammers regarding what is spam and what is not, identifying it is actually pretty easy: if you did not ask for it, you did not sign up on a mailing list related to it, and did not leave your e-mail address on a web form asking for more information on it..

Why Does Your Business Need A Spam Filter?
Spam plagues email inboxes around the globe. The cost of spam for businesses and individuals can be steep. From unwanted solicitations to identity theft, spam is a serious issue. Endless hours are spent on spam damage control. A spam filter helps to eliminate these annoying and potentially dangerous communications.
Image Spam And How To Fight It
Spam attacks where the text is replaced with images aimed at lightly protected email systems are growing in popularity. With the variety of anti-spam filters that analyze the message content to weed out unsolicited emails, spammers continue to increasingly adopt image spam. Businesses, organizations and everyday computer users might have noted an increase of image-based spam, text e-mails that arrive in your in-box as image files. Image spam can contain a picture of words, a screenshot, a photographic image, or a combination of these. By sending emails that contain no text, only pictures, spammers found that they can fool even the most advanced anti-spam software like SpamAssassin, G-Lock SpamCombat.
